Braiding Process

Multi-Color Yarn Preparation

Configure yarn colors according to order requirements, each yarn undergoes tension pre-adjustment to ensure consistent initial tension across carriers. For flat tape products, outer yarn and inner core yarn need separate preparation.

High-Speed Braiding and Forming

Using 16-24 carrier braiding machines, carrier speed 250-400rpm, braiding angle 45°-55°. Shoelace braiding has relatively relaxed tension requirements (1.0-2.5N), but requires fast changeover (<5 minutes).

Flat Tape Pressing and Setting

For flat tape products, heated press rollers (120-160°C) at the braiding exit flatten the round cross-section. Roller gap adjusted by target width, temperature set by material melting point.

Heat Treatment Setting

Hot air setting machine (80-120°C) eliminates braiding internal stress and stabilizes shoelace dimensions. Post-setting elongation controlled within 5%, recovery rate ≥90%.

Cutting and Tipping

Cut to order length (typically 60-180cm) with ±2mm accuracy. Metal aglets use automatic tipping machines, plastic aglets use injection molding. Aglet pull strength ≥50N.

How fast is the yarn changeover on shoelace braiding machines?

Our standard models feature quick-change carrier design, single-color changeover about 2-3 minutes, two-color about 5-8 minutes. For 48-color automatic yarn change devices, color switching completes within 30 seconds without stopping. We recommend scheduling production by color in batches to minimize changeover time.

Can round cord and flat tape be produced on the same machine?

Yes. Simply change the flattening device to switch between round cord and flat tape. Round cord production runs without press rollers, direct winding after braiding; flat tape production installs heated press rollers with gap adjusted by target width. Switching takes about 15-20 minutes, mainly for roller installation and parameter adjustment.

What is the approximate daily production capacity for shoelace braiding?

Depends on model and order specifications. Taking FY-24 model braiding standard 120cm athletic shoelaces: theoretical braiding speed about 300 m/hour, at 20 hours daily operation and 85% effective running rate, daily output about 5,100 meters, equivalent to 4,250 pairs. For large-volume single-color orders, high-speed model FY-8-90-16 can achieve 8,000-12,000 pairs daily.
